Retrograde

I blame it on the planets
when I'm feeling too bad
to even try to understand it
when I'm feeling sad, I
blame it on the planets,
I blame it on the stars.
Rather than blame myself I'd rather
blame it on Mars.
I am not feeling my best
and I've got no good reasoning
to why I'm feeling this way.
My emotions are going,
they're going crazy.
I feel like a balloon
perilously close to a safety pin;
I feel like a total fool,
but just before I start my spiraling
I decide to
blame it on the planets
when I'm feeling too bad
to even try to understand it
when I'm feeling sad, I
blame it on the planets,
I blame it on the stars.
Rather than blame my tired heart
blame it on Mars.
Oh, Mercury retrograde
why are you doing this to me?
Better stay away from stairs...
Oh, Jupiter retrograde
why are you doing this to me
and my day dreaming stare?
Oh, Saturn retrograde why are you doing this
to me, keeping me away from all my structure plans?
Oh, Venus retrograde...
why are you doing this
to me? Making me feel like
no one understands....
I blame it on the planets
when I'm feeling too bad
to even try to understand it
when I'm feeling sad, I
blame it on the planets,
I blame it on the stars.
Rather than blame myself
Rather than blame myself
Rather than blame myself
I'll blame it on Mars.
I'll blame it on Mars,
I'll blame it on the stars,
I'll blame it on the planets.

little things

You cried over milk today
'cause you felt like a fool
and your favorite band finally wote a bad song.
You know it's all so
miniscule
so caring about it, obviously
must be wrong.
But you don't validate the big
by invalidating the small! (x2)
'Cause disaster strikes
every single day,
for a thousand people
in a thousand ways
and sometimes it's giant but
usually it's very small,
and you don
to have to pick just one
to be the most valid of them all.
You're feeling bad today
from a hundred little things,
not one sob or news worthy.
Even though it's nothing,
it still stings,
but with the state of the world,
talking about it makes you feel dirty.
But you don't validate the big
by invalidating the small! (x2)
'Cause disaster strikes
every single day,
for a thousand people
in a thousand ways
and sometimes it's giant but
usually it's very small,
and you don
to have to pick just one
to be the most valid of them all.
'Cause disaster strikes
every single day,
for a thousand people
in a thousand ways
and sometimes it's giant but
usually it's very small,
and you don
to have to pick just one
to be the most valid of them all.
Disaster...
Disaster....
Disaster...

Everything Matters

I didn't just come here to be sad,
it's just sometimes easier than being sad.
And this is so large, and heavy, and broken
but still I want to look around and think that I can fix this.
I am looking at it piece by piece,
the broken glass and our injured feet.
It is not the first step,
but it is a prerequisite,
to look at the small and decide that
everything matters.
Like,
I am not the sum of my parts,
I believe more than what I was taught,
I see goodness in every threat of dark,
and I am thankful for every inch I've got
I love myself more than I ever thought I would
and no one will take that away from me.
I love the world more than it's cool to
and no one will take that away from me.
If you can't find hope on the store shelf,
you can just make it yourself-
look in the scrap pile, for all you've overlooked,
do something good for your mental health.
Remember that
You are not the sum of your parts
You believe more than you were taught,
You can find hope in any threat of dark
and you appreciate every inch you've got.
One day you'll love yourself more than you thought you could
And no one will be able to take that from you.
Open up your heart to the world
because the world loves you too.
(you need to know that everything matters, you need to know that everything matters, not just the bad but everything matters, even the smallest shred of hope)
We are not the sum of our parts
We believe more than we were taught,
We see hope in every threat of dark
and we're thankful for every inch we've got.
We love ourselves more than they ever said we should
and no one can to take that away from us.
We love the world more than it's cool to
and no one will take that away from us.
We are not the sum of our parts
We believe more than we were taught,
We see good in every threat of dark
and we're thankful for everything we've got
We love ourselves more than they ever said we should
and no one can to take that away from us.
We love the world more than it's cool to
and no one can to take that away from us.
